Membership

The SIF is made up of Active and Associate members.

It is led by an elected Chair and steering committee. The forum will proactively engage members (active and associate) in its decisions and activities.

Active membership (voting)

Active members of the Social Investment Forum must:

  • Invest in, and/or raise capital for, UK social organisations that deliver both financial and social return (either directly, or through a subsidiary / department) - this includes charities, coops, mutuals, community interest companies or other organisations that meet BSC third sector governing principles.

  • Be registered in the UK and primarily in the UK and primarily investing in UK-based organisations

  • Be active (e.g. with an open fund and/or a track record of raising capital)

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the Forum by evidencing membership on their website and in corporate literature where appropriate.

Associate membership (non-voting)

Associate membership of the Social Investment Forum is open to organisations that:

  • Are key market players in the UK social investment sector – e.g. wholesalers, membership bodies, trusts and foundations, Government.

  • Take an active interest in the structure and financing of UK social organisations

  • Demonstrate a commitment to engaging with, and advancing the work of, the Social Investment Forum.
